Free-machine embroidery has been described by Kirsty Allsopp as ‘the crack cocaine of the crafting world!’ and I have to agree – it is VERY addictive! It is also a great way to get away from all your stresses and worries – I see it as a form of mindfulness, you really can get lost in it once you know what you’re doing!
My workshop will introduce you to this fascinating art form – it can be described as drawing with a sewing machine.
You will learn how to set up a sewing machine ready for free-machine embroidery and can have fun practising doodling and ‘writing’ onto fabric. Once you have mastered the basics, you will design and create your own framed textile picture using free-machine embroidery & appliqué techniques.
There will be a selection of fabrics available for you to use in your appliqué design, but you are very welcome to bring your own fabric if you prefer.
At the end of the workshop you will be able to set up a sewing machine for free-machine embroidery and have the knowledge to create your own textile art at home.
You don’t need to bring anything with you as all tools and materials/equipment will be provided. However, please do feel free to bring your own fabric scraps & photos or pictures to provide inspiration for your framed picture.
The course costs £40.00 to include materials/equipment and use of tools
Class sizes will be limited to 5 people to enable individual tuition - to book please use the drop down menu below to choose your venue & date
